IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCESSING TAXES AND MAILING INFORMATION

Tax collection is underway and in an effort to keep the town informed, knowledgable, and up to date I am providing a few important updates:

* Tax collection hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10a-1p and Wednesday evenings 6-7p unless otherwise stated.

* If you come outside of those hours to pay your taxes, the Clerk or Deputy Clerk may not be able to process your payment. There is much more work that goes into keeping accurate records that needs to be completed prior to the end of each day, therefore coming outside of posted hours may result in not receipting your payment that day. This decision is left to the discretion of the Clerk and Deputy Clerk. Please understand that we want to ensure accurate and proper documentation and recording of all tax bill payments and this allows us to do just that. If the door is locked, we have stopped accepting payments and you are welcome to drop the payment in the box at the roadside.

*If you cannot make it to pay your tax bill during the posted times, please either drop it in the box at the roadside or call to set up an appointment (262-441-1721).

*In general if the area schools are closed, the office will be as well, watch for updates on the website.

***Please be aware! The USPS has changed its rules on postmarks.*** see below...

- As of December 24, 2025 the post office will implement a change affecting the way postmarks are managed and their meaning. Please follow the link for specific details, but in general:

The rule clarifies that the date displayed on a machine-applied postmark represents the "date of the first automated processing operation" performed at a processing facility, rather than the date the mail was dropped off.

To ensure dates are accurate based on when you drop something off at the post office, specifically for post marks on tax payments be sure to ask the clerk to manually postmark the item!

If you have questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out by phone or email.
