Treasury Specialist 

The Town of Spring Prairie is currently accepting applications for Treasury Specialist. The Treasury Specialist will be responsible for recording all receipts and expenditures for this small town, including reviewing invoices for payment, processing small payroll, paying payroll taxes and preparing checks for Town Board review and signature. 

The Treasury Specialist will prepare the annual budget, coordinating with various outside vendors (emergency services, roadman, garbage collection and others) to develop expected expenses. This person will also determine expected revenues from the State of Wisconsin and others, and then determine the amount required for the garbage assessment and the tax levy to be included on property tax bills. 

This person will balance all bank statements monthly, timely file quarterly payroll tax returns, prepare Forms W-2 and Forms1099 annually, and file various reports required by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue local government division. 

Other activities include, but are not limited to property tax collections, reconciliation and disbursement to other governments for which the town collects property taxes.  The Treasury Specialist will coordinate and work with the Town’s outside auditors to complete the annual audit. Also, this person will provide financial analysis to the Town Board as requested.

Attendance at monthly board meeting (second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm.) to report to the board on the status of Town finances and on Treasury Specialist’s activities expected.
